WIRELESS ELECTRONIC FENCES

Wireless Electronic Dog Fences (sometimes called an instant fences) are a safe, effective and invisible way to contain your dog in a defined area. With this type of product your dog can be contained to an area you defined without having to pay the expensive cost of a traditional fence, which can be unsightly, and your dog may just climb over, dig under, or chew through it.

Dogs are nosey animals and hate being stuck in the back yard where they can't see what's going on. When they are in the back, every sound they hear they think may be you, thus building up a lot of frustration. Allowing the dog to go to the front yard will satisfy his curiosity, thus making your dog more calm. The front yard offers your dog entertainment. He gets to see the mail man, the FedEx truck, the UPS truck, the school bus, and other things of interest including you, when you arrive home.

An Wireless Electronic Fence consists has two components: Transmitter and Receivers.

TRANSMITTER

The Transmitter is a small box (normally install in your home) that connects to an AC Outlet for power and sends a signal through the air. A control on the transmitter sets the boundary of the area your dog can use.  Installation of two transmitters at different ends of your home will create a larger area for your dog to roam.

RECEIVER

The Receivers (s) are small boxes (with electronics and batteries, mounted of a dog collar) with metal contacts which press against your dogs neck. When your dog gets to the boundary of the area your have set, the receiver first beeps and, after a seconds, give your dog a mild electrical shock.

TRAINING

After installation of an electronic fence system, you will need to spend time training your dogs, so they will know the location of the new fence.  If you use a commercial fence installer, they will assist you in the training.

For those home owners that do not want to use a physical fence, electronic fence systems are a good way to contain your dog.

MAINTENANCE

With age, all fences require maintenance and none are fail safe. The electrical power to your home can fail, the batteries in the receiver can run down and there can be breaks in buried wire loop. Like everything else in your dog's life, your attention is required to keep your friend safe.

Electronic fence systems do not keep other people's dogs from coming into your yard (and doing their business).

SWIMMING POOLS

Dogs and pools do not mix.  Drowning by very young and very old dogs in swimming pools are common.  The area used by your dogs should be separated from the swimming pool area by a physical fence.

Many locals have regulations that require swimming pools be protected by enclosures built to a code by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.  These enclosures can be made from welded wire fences or metal picket fences, make with larger post and stronger fence material. Also check out your home owners insurance requirements.
